Bronco's Country and Western Festival

Went to Bronco's festival in Kelso at the weekend. The venue, Springwood Hall in the grounds of the Border Union Showground, was excellent - cheap bar, good food, friendly staff, and of course there was plenty of good country music.

Two bands stood out - Gary Perkins and the Breeze and the Gary Quinn Band. Both are at a level significantly above your average club act, with plenty of original material as well as good cover versions. If you haven't seen them before, check them out - you won't be disappointed.

Other acts included Raintown with a 5 piece band (very slick and professional, just not my cup of tea), White Line Fever and Urban Creek, as well as solos Chris Raddings and Donna Wylde and duos McKenzie and Kickin' Country.

All in all a very enjoyable weekend.

Gary Quinn Band and Gary perkins & The Breeze, both playing at Rock Ridge this year. Was at Kelso as well and totally agree these were the two stand out bands of the festival. Also really enjoyed Raintown but agree they are not going to be everyone's cup of tea. Also really looking forward to The Lee Paul Band, Kayleigh Leith and the Wreckless, Jaxon and of course Travis Collins Band. Check out the website for full details http://www.rockridgeevents.co.uk
