Country Exclisives 2017

A new year, New Exclusives, from yours truly, though not all are actual exclusives, as you will see.

The first comes courtesy of a Rolling Stone interview with Willie Nelson. The old hippy has a new album due out in aril, and he has been talking to RS about some of the songs on it.
He reveals that one of the songs was inspired by the recent US elections. Willie supported Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders before the elections, but now that it is over he is typically laid back about it. His response to the Trump victory? "Delete and Fast Forward".
The lyrics run "Delete and fast-forward, my friend/ The elections are over and nobody wins/ But don't worry too much, you'll go crazy again/ Delete and fast forward, my friend." Willie says he'll just sit out & fast forward through the next four years, & that is how he will get through it. That, and weed.
Another song on the album is called "Still Not Dead" which, Willie says, is his response to reading reports of his own death.

US radio & TV personality, Cody Alan, who hosts CMT's popular CMT Top 20 Countdown" show has come out as gay. He says he was encouraged to do this by his son. He says he hopes the revelation will not cause people to change their opinion of him. "I'm still the same Cody", he said.

He must be one of the most prolific singers ever. How many albums has he made, including colaborations with other artistes? He must average about 2 PA?

According to this page on wikipedia it's sixty-eight studio albums, ten live albums, thirty-seven compilations, the soundtracks of The Electric Horseman and Honeysuckle Rose as well as twenty-seven collaborations. I think they're being very conservative on the number they give on compilations as there seems to be hundreds of collections of his early stuff out there!

While Willie Nelson plans to delete the Trump thing & "fast forward" 4 years "till it's over", macho country star Toby Keith put in a tub-thumping, flag-waving performance at trump's "Make America Great Again" inauguration concert

Funnily, in deference to Trump & best buddy Putin, Toby has replaced the stars & stripes with the Flag of the Russian Federation in future stage performances. A Toby fan said the stars & Stripes are "tainted" by liberals, & there is nothing liberal about Russia!

FAKE NEWS:
Last week according to Billboard and Nielsen Music, 2016 country albums sales were up 5% from 2015. In fact, the 26.1 million country albums sold in 2016 marked just the second time since 2005 that album sales increased over the previous year.
Written by the Country Editor it was shared by Taste of Country, Nash Country and lots more websites.
DO THEY BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY READ! I don’t think they follow the industry sales figures.
I may be a tiny cog in the country wheel but I knew coming into December that sales were down 10% physical and about 25% down on digital downloads.
Could Garth Brooks album which was disqualified by Billboard for discounting for a month have sold massive. Was there a huge Christmas sales surge?
I thought that quite a lot of people would message him. Nothing seemed to happen so I made contact.

Humbled and surprised to receive a reply after he checked with his boss. He had used a figure of 29.4 million when it should have been 24.9 million.
The article was then rewritten and he thanked me for pointing it out!
He has followed it up with this http://www.billboard.com/articles/colum ... 016-totals

Despite Stapleton’s achievement, country album sales continued their annual downward trajectory, with the genre totaling
26.1 million sales, a decline of 11 percent from 2015 ...
Subscribers to Taste of Country or Nash Country will think sales were up 5%. They were very slow to corrected their websites. It just goes to show that they don’t question anything!
I don’t think they can do maths and work percentages out either!

Country streaming grew by 57% . From February the Billboard Country Charts will not work on pure sales but factor in streaming!
This happened on the Billboard 200 and Official UK Album & Singles charts.
They all want to monitor how people CONSUME music not BUY.
It’s not like the old days when people bought the music and had good Hi Fi’s to play it on.

It was good to see country music and Tennessee represented for President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration during the "'Make America Great Again!'

Lee Greenwood performed a rousing rendition of ‘God Bless the USA’ and Trump loved it giving it the thumbs up.
The concert at the Lincoln Memorial included appearances by as you say Toby Keith along with Jon Voight, The Piano Guys, DJ Ravidrums, 3 Doors Down, The Frontmen of Country, military bands, and a fireworks show.

He hasn't been seen since "Midnight Cowboy". Is he still trying to be a gigolo? A bit old for that job, isn't he?

So am I right in thinking that the 'exclusive' here is that someone with a tenuous link to country music says something stupid?   That just about sums me up most days!!

History was made Sunday as millions of women- and men- marched in support of equal rights for women in cities and towns around the world. Like many others, country stars reacted to the historic events.
Taylor Swift tweeted "So much love, pride and respect for those who marched". Kelly Clarkson and the Brothers Osbourne also expressed their support of the women's march, while Charlie Daniels lamented "the way of the world today". Unclear whether he was commenting on the women's march, Trump or something else.
Meghan Lindsey of country act Steel Magnolia joined the women's march in Nashville,
Cam, LeAnn Rimes and Kacey Musgraves were amongst others to express their support for the March.
While Wynonna distanced herself from Sister Ashley's position saying, "For me it's about love and fellowship with fans. I don't do politics!"

The Women's March was so overwhelming- even London's Country Clive was there :D , that after a few confrontational tweets, even my Twitter Friendemy, Donald Trump, tweeted that free protest is what the USA is all about! Well, that is progress!

We, the authors of Country Exclusives, pledge to publish mostly actual FACTS in this thread. We have not been tempted down the Alternative Facts route, thank you!
Talking of Alternative Facts, it seems not only Kellyanne is into Alternative Facts, but most Trump supporters. A Trump supporting Gospel singer claimed that "Jesus was returning to the White House" in the form of D Trump!

This is how the Nashville Media reported it-
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - A gospel singer is apologizing to her fans after posting an image on her social media account suggesting that Jesus was returning to the White House under President Donald Trump.

Vicki Yohe, known for her song "Because of Who You Are," posted the meme on Instagram on Saturday, but then removed it after getting flooded with criticism from fans. She posted a note Monday on Facebook saying she did not mean to imply that former President Barack Obama was not a Christian. She wrote that she was wrong and regrets it.

Yohe, who is based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, said in an interview Monday that she has a lot of black fans and she was insensitive to their feelings and she hopes they will forgive

They were legally wed on Jan 20th
TODAY, marriage certificate in hand, we stand with our two beautiful children as a modern AMERICAN family and say 'love is love.' We continue in the hope and belief that open minds and accepting hearts will always conquer fear. Thank you, Mayor MEGAN BARRY, for making it official!"

Moshe can you exclusively reveal how they managed to make children together especially a girl.

National radio hosts Blair Garner has joined Cody Alan in coming out to a conservative "country/bible belt" audience
Garner, who now hosts Westwood One’s The Blair Garner Show was a former After Midnite host. He posting a photo revealed he had married a man, Eric Garner, on Sept. 24, 2016.

Has the Will Lexington story on Nashville TV Drama set some sort of ball rolling.
