SINGER SONGWRITERS WANTED FOR RADIO SHOW

Postby Wye Creek Music » Fri Sep 09, 2011 10:19 pm

Calling all and any SINGER SONGWRITERS who can get to BAKEWELL this coming Monday Evening.

We are recording a RADIO SHOW for our Internet station http://www.SongwriterRadio.orgin the Wheatsheaf Pub and we are looking for people who would like to be recorded for inclusion in this show and a possible Album.

No Charge to be recorded.

Check the details http://www.wyecreekmusic.co.uk/recording-session.html.

We are looking for original songs not covers - so it's effectively a free demo recording session for Singer Songwriters - pass the word around.

Unfortunately, Bakewell is a cake too far for me but best of luck anyway.

Hi Mike, only just joined the forum so obviously missed the boat on this offer, but will certainly be mailing you a song or two over the next few weeks / months see what you think and if you would play them on your station.

Best wishes,
Ash

Do you have any suggestions as to how I could get my original instrumental compositions in the
hands of sogwriters, who can add their own lyrics to create their own originals? My trax are
works in progress, not broadcast ready:
http://nashvillemusiciansandsingers.ning.com/profile/EdwardSShaw Scroll down. Four trax.
Thanks. I'm starting to listen more since finding out about songwriterradio.

Ed try the following

1) Send me some samples via the drop box at http://www.songwriterradio.org/talent_vault.html and I will pass them on to some lyric writers
2) Put your own message on this Bulletin Board or scroll down though older posts because there are always more lyric writers looking for composers than the other way around
3) Join ISA (International Songwriters Association ) http://www.songwriter.co.uk/ - they send regular bulletins out to all members and theres always lyric writers wanting music composers. It you ask they will put a bulletin out about you wanting lyric writers and you will probably be swamped
4) If you are anywhere within traveling distance next Monday 10 Oct or Mon 14 Nov we have Open-Mic sessions at the Wheatsheaf Hotel in Bakewell and this is a practice for our next radio recording session and there will be people there you can network with.
5) You can join for free our own networking Group Wye Creek Music Community Group http://www.wyecreeekmusic.co.uk. We send bulletins out to our members and I can include info about you with your links on one of these bulletins - Go to the home page of the website and you can download a membership application form

Thanks very much for those suggestions, Mike. I'll have to work through them one at a time. I'm sure the effort will be well worth it, on my part.

I always liked it when performers did their own songs, Mike, but the value of original work really did not begin to sink in until I started video taping music acts and posting them on line. Here are two examples of that:
http://www.youtube.com/user/edwardshaw1?feature=mhee

You know, laws pertaining to what is called the "snych" rights vary considerably from the "phono duplicate" rights. The synch laws were written when motion picture was big dollar. Heck, when I started out, we would quote $300 a minute, and that was in 1970. Long story short, to video and post a copyrighted song basically requires a lawyer.

What you are doing with songwriterradio is right on the money, Mike, for several reasons.

Unfortunatley because of the effect illegal downloads where lots of people apear to think that all music should be free, it appears that new bands and songwriters are often forced to play for nothing or give their songs away. We started our organisation initially as a music publishing company to legally protect our OWN songs. In the process of doing this we had to do a lot of research and so discovered all the complexities of copyright.

I would say that most Musicans and songwriters are unaware of a lot of this and make lots of mistakes.

As part of our service to help people we have just got (we were told yesterday) a grant to help fund a series of Songwriting Workshps over the next few months. We will be covering not only the creative side of things but the legal side as well

Ill be posting this info elsewhere here as a new topic whan I have some time spare

Hi Mike,

Am hoping to be at The Wheatsheaf on Monday all being well. We have a couple of songs to bring along and would love to try and air them live to see how they go down. Obviously our intention is to sell them to someone else rather than perform them ourselves as such, but we might put together an acoustic set of originals and covers to give them some exposure so this would be the ideal first step.

Hopefully see you then.

Cheers,
Ash
