Marty Robbins was a fabulous singer. His rendition of "El Paso" is amazing. It must be a difficult song to sing- there are so many words- but it just flows in Robins' rendition

One of my most vivid memories is as a child my mum telling me that marty robbins had died, a bigger impact, in our house at kleast, than elvis's death.

This track was on the original LP imports but never seems to get airtime.

This podcast of Coffee Cody & Country with Ralph emery as guest includes some great clips from Ralphs' radio shows including a duet between Marty Robbins & Loretta Lynn & later on Marty singing another song solo. He could so effortlessly sing so beautifully

Cheers Moshe, I enjoyed that.

I accept we have some good 'story tellers' nowadays but I don't know of any contemporary 'Cowboy & Western' material - I guess tastes have changed and it is seen as a bit corny .

You notice at the end of the show Ralph volunteers to come back with some more tapes? I never found another podcast with him from there till last year & in that prog he came back on, but no vintage tapes were played. Instead they mentioned that there was a box set of CDs of the shows plus a DVD which you could buy, but nothing of that was played on air!

well this is proberly my husbands favourite songs from one of his fav singers, and although i will never admit it to him, i do have a soft spot for mr Robbins, his voice is so smooth and enchanting, its like his voice is dancing when he sings, it doesnt matter what he sings its gong to sound beautiful,
