Artist / Band Of The Month
December 2009

Settlers Creek Country Music Band

Formed in late 2005, Settlers Creek quickly established themselves on the UK Country circuit playing Clubs, Pubs and Festivals.
Playing styles of Country from old classics by the likes of Waylon and Willie to more modern songs by artists such as Alan Jackson, Josh Turner and Steve Earle as well as their own continuously increasing self-penned numbers, this mix of all styles ensures that everyone is catered for at a Settlers Creek show.

Duncan – Lead/Backing vocals, Lead guitar, Mandolin/Acoustic guitar

Dunc has played in a number of Country bands from the age of 16. He has played in Country Bands such as Borderline, The Rocky Mountain Band, Risin’ South and Brian Williams and the Honky Tonk Heroes
He has always had a passion for Country music and enjoys being able to share this with the audience as you can tell by his performance onstage.
Dunc has developed his own style of playing over the years from influences such as Albert Lee, Ricky Skaggs, Brad Paisley and Brent Mason.

Eric – Lead/Backing vocals, Bass, Harmonica

Eric was introduced to country music by a friend who at the time was playing with Pete Naden. Subsequently he ended up playing bass in Dave McQueens’ Power Band, later to become Rambling Fever and then the Sons of San Antone. Eric decided to hang up his spurs and take a break from the Country scene and played bass with a sixties group called The Sandgrounders, who, apart from the normal sixties music, ended up as one of the best Shadows tribute acts in the country.
He got back into country music when he was asked to play a couple of gigs with a new band called ‘Settlers Creek’ until they got a bass player and twelve months later joined the band properly after The Sandgrounders split up and the Creeks original bass player left.

Norm – Keyboards

Settlers Creek is Norm's first band. Although classically trained from the age of 7 he's never known enough musicians who were willing to stand near to him on a stage to be a performer until now...
Norm’s Influences include Pete Wingfield (Everly Brothers/Hogan’s Heroes) and many of the old blues pianists such as Ray Charles, Fats Domino, Bob Hall and Jimmy Yancey.
Norm enjoys performing on stage and uses Roland Piano’s and Synthesiser’s to help create the unique sounds that is Settlers Creek

Sam - Drums and Percussion

Sam is the new drummer for Settlers Creek. At 17 years old he is probably one of the youngest if not the youngest musician currently on the British Country Music scene. Sam has played in Settlers Creek before for brief periods filling in for the previous drummer when needed. Sam also plays Guitar and Bass which will add another dimension to the Creeks. Sam has just started a Music diploma at Blackpool Sixth form College.

Settlers Creek Country Music Band

On stage Settlers Creek successfully combine their love of Country music with a real desire to give their all. The display of technical skills and the outright burning passion for their music draws in the audience and ensures everyone who comes to the party enjoys the show.
