TOBY SINGS BEERS
The title track from Toby Keith's upcoming album, "Bullets in the Gun," continues the theme that Keith's past hits "Beer For My Horses," "Stays In Mexico," and "I Love This Bar" all shared of drinking and hanging out in bars.

Toby explains the song's premise and why he felt drawn to record it: "It’s about a guy on his motorcycle who ends up in a bar on the U.S. side of the Mexican border, falls for a dancer." “Her boss abuses her in front of him, and they rob the place and head into Mexico and get killed. It’s kind of a throwback to some old Texas songs I grew up listening to in Oklahoma.”

Though never really intended to be a radio single since the track is so long, Keith has had so much feedback urging the release that he's considering redoing the song to make it short enough for radio
GWYNETH PALTROW GOES COUNTRYGwyneth Paltrow - Sings "Country Strong"
NASHVILLE, Tenn.
Gwyneth Paltrow might be able to have another career as a real country singer, and not just play one in a movie. The title track from her upcoming movie, "Country Strong," has been released to radio. Paltrow sings about looking fragile on the outside but inside, she's country-strong. Vince Gill and Patty Griffin do background vocals. The soundtrack will be released October 26. The movie will open December 22. Paltrow plays a troubled singer who's aiming for a comeback. Tim McGraw plays her husband.

Not bad at all- perhaps she could give lessons to some of the young Nashville stars. Wink

Anyone know if the movie is likely to get a UK release?

Dixie Chicks perform on Steve Martin album
Steve Martin's next bluegrass album will feature a track that includes the Dixie Chicks. According to band member Martie Maguire, the trio will only be singing harmony on the track and not providing any instrumentation

Carrie Underwoods' most irritating tune to date, "uh uh uh uh undo It" hits the Number One Spot in the Hot Country Listin gs.
This update from Eyewitness news:

Carrie Underwood has done it. Her single, "Undo It," is now number-one on Billboard's country songs chart. "Free" from the Zac Brown Band moves up from fifth to second place. And, "Lover, Lover" by Jerrod Niemann stays in the third spot. Niemann's stay at the top of the country albums chart was short-lived. Lady Antebellum's "Need You Now" has returned to first, bumping "Jerrod Niemann and the Hung Jury" into third place. "The Foundation" from the Zac Brown Band is back in second.

She's not a bad singer, but on this track irritating. A bit like some of the worse Beyonce tracks. Not very country

It is indeed an irritating track and about as country as my cat!!

A bad singer?? I know this - (and I'm sure I'll be accused of being sexist or a 'hater' or jealous) Carrie Underwood was bloody awful at the Opry in Nashville last month!

Never saw her live, so I can't judge. I quite like some of her tracks, but she does not seem to have a musical personal;ity or identity, to me.
I like some of Play On, her current album, but that "Undo It" track is intensly irritating. And i can't hear anything remotely country in it!

That was my problem with it - you go to a country show and the last half hour is taken up by a soft rock act!

A first for Jerrod Niemann . He's just scored his first number-one single on Billboard's country songs chart. It's for "Lover, Lover." Niemann says "its pretty weird to have a song go number-one ten years after the day you set foot in Nashville to visit."
