Notice:- The following is a letter that appeared in Cross Country magazine this month. It should also have been printed in Southern Country magazine. As it wasn’t, I would like to publish it here:
EAGLE COUNTRY – APOLOGIES AND THANKS
As some of you will know it has been necessary for us to cancel all our engagements over the Christmas/New Year period and also for the months of January and February. The reason for this has been twofold. Firstly, Marianne unfortunately broke her ankle in October. We cancelled no gigs (she continued to play her keyboard sitting down with her leg in plaster). The plaster was removed in November but very cleverly she broke the same ankle again a few days before Christmas (bad breaks this time in three places) which resulted in hospitalisation and an operation to insert metal plates and screws). On top of this I have been given a date of 17th January for a total knee replacement operation. This of course means we both need recovery time and neither of us will be able to drive for a number of weeks. We would like, through your magazine, to apologise to the clubs we have had to cancel and to thank all those artists that have exchanged gigs with us so we have not lost the work completely. Thanks also go to all those friends and clubs that have sent their good wishes to us. We look forward to seeing you when we are back on the road from the beginning of March.
Gordon and Marianne (Eagle Country)
Update to the above:
Gordon is now getting more mobile and painless (should that be less of a pain??) every day. I am having my plaster removed on 7th Feb. We should both be relatively back to normal by the beginning of March, so can share the driving. We are very much looking forward to getting back “on the road again”.
In addition to local gigs in Cornwall and Devon, we are looking forward to the following:
March 16th Roosters, Somerset. 17th: FA Double B, Cambs. 18th Pedlars, Norfolk. 19th Epping Riders, Essex.
April 19th Egremont Con Club, Cumbria. 20th Davey Crockett, Barrow, Cumbria. 21st Colne BL, Lancs. 26th Renishaw Night Riders, Chesterfield. 27th Whixley VH, Yorks. 28th Kirkbymoorside BL, Yorks. 29th Northallerton WMC, Yorks.
We really appreciate all the “get well” cards and messages we have received and thank everyone for their good wishes. |
